What are the commonly used steel plates for automobiles?

Automobile steel plates, referred to as automobile plates, refer to steel plates composed of plates and special steels. They are used to manufacture automobiles. They have the characteristics of high strength, thin specifications, and corrosion resistance. They can reduce the weight of automobiles, save materials, reduce costs, improve safety, and extend the service life of automobiles. Commonly used types of automotive steel plates include:
1. Hot rolled steel plate
Hot-rolled steel plates are made by high-temperature rolling. They are made from steel ingots with low carbon content (less than 0.15%) by hot-rolling. This type of steel plates are mainly used to manufacture commercial vehicles for cargo. According to the metallurgy of composition, structure, process, etc. Characteristics can be divided into carbon steel plates (ordinary carbon steel plates, high-quality carbon steel plates), low-alloy high-strength steel plates, dual-phase steel plates, TRIP steel plates, TWIP steel plates, bainite steel plates, martensitic steel plates, silicon steel plates, etc.
2. Cold rolled steel plate
Cold-rolled plates are made of hot-rolled coils as raw materials and are rolled at room temperature below the recrystallization temperature. Since they are rolled at room temperature, no scale is produced. Therefore, cold-rolled plates have good surface quality, high dimensional accuracy, and good mechanical and process properties. Most cold-rolled plates are used in structures and parts with smooth and beautiful surfaces such as automobile bodies, mechanical parts, motors, and tools. There are four categories of cold-rolled steel plates: deep drawing (IF) steel series, phosphorus-added high-strength steel series, BH steel series and low-alloy high-strength steel series.
3. High tensile steel plate
It is a steel plate with a tensile strength of more than 6MPa. It has a destructive strength 2 to 3 times that of ordinary mild steel plates. There are many types of high-tension steel plates. Among them, composite structure steel plates have low yield strength, large ductility, and good processability.
4. Coated steel plate
Also called surface-treated steel plate, it is a steel plate that is treated with a metal layer of zinc, aluminum, etc. on the surface of the steel plate in order to make the car body have better corrosion resistance. The automobile industry has certain requirements for coated steel plates in terms of formability, corrosion resistance, paintability, weldability, surface quality and tolerance dimensions. The coating materials for automobile coated steel sheets mainly include zinc, aluminum, tin, nickel and other metals, alloys or organic resins. According to the type of coating, they are divided into galvanized sheets, hot-dip galvanized aluminum sheets, aluminized steel sheets, etc.
5. Stainless steel plate
Stainless steel plate is an alloy material made by adding chromium and nickel to carbon steel and hot rolling and cold rolling. It has good corrosion resistance, smooth and beautiful appearance, and is generally silver-white.
