1. Classification of surface defects
Common surface defects of A36 hot-rolled steel plates can be divided into the following categories:
Dirt: A rough surface with uneven surfaces.
Folding and scratching: caused by poor processing or severe wear of the guide plate.
Inclusions: There are non-metallic inclusions with a certain depth on the surface of A36 steel.
Scarring: Scar-like metal flakes appear on the surface of A36 steel.
Cracks: Cracks of varying depths and random directions appear on the surface of the A36 steel plate.

2. Treatment method
For surface defects of different A36 steel plates, the following treatment methods can be adopted:
Welding repair: It is suitable for parts with less serious cracks. Welding repairs can be carried out after cleaning the welding nodules and burrs at the cracks.
Cutting and repair welding: It is suitable for occasions where the crack is long or the location is special. The cracked part is cut into a V-shaped or U-shaped notch and then welded and filled.
Heat treatment: It is suitable for cracks occurring in deep positions of large A36 steel plates. The cracks can be eliminated by heating to a certain temperature and maintaining it for a period of time and then cooling rapidly.
