Some quenched and tempered high-strength Q345R steel plates have failed some product inspections during the production process. The unqualified areas were sampled, and the metallographic examination and scanning electron microscopy were used to detect and analyze the structure of the unqualified steel plates. It was found that defects such as inclusions and central cracks were the main causes of unqualified flaws. According to the analysis, the original cracks of the slab caused post-rolling cracks in the steel plate, and the calcium aluminate inclusions in the molten steel refining process did not float up sufficiently, resulting in large-sized inclusions in the steel plate. The improvement measures such as improving the purity of molten steel and the internal quality of slab are put forward. After the improvement, the qualified rate of steel flaw detection increased by 12%, and the effect was better.
Due to the harsh application environment, it needs to have great tolerance to temperature and pressure. The Q345R steel production process has very high requirements for the structure and performance of the steel plate, and it has very strict requirements for flaw detection.
