S235JR carbon steel has a lot of equivalent grades, such as JIS SS400, GB Q235B, ASTM A36, DIN St37-2. With minimum yield strength of 33 ksi at 16mm, S235JR carbon steel plate has excellent formability but is limited in applications requiring higher weight-bearing structural specifications.

Steel S235JR and A36 material has little difference but more common points in chemical composition and mechanical properties. For most projects, they can meet demands of each other. But there are also exceptions, which need to check with engineers.
