Table 2 shows the stress corrosion test results for the A106GrB steel pipe weld. After 72h, all the GTAW specimens failed in the environment of hydrogen sulfide gas and static tensile stress of 0.8σy, 2 cases of GTAW SMAW and 1 case of FCAW failed. GTAW FCAW showed good resistance to SSCC without failure. That is to say, when the stress corrosion products generated by the pit and crack stress corrosion mechanism of the surface grow to critical depth or critical size, they all fail, and these results are also verified by the fracture morphology observation. In some cases the fault location is in the heat affected zone of the weld. Corrosion rates were evaluated based on the relationship between load and corrosion rate.
As a basic study of ASTM A106 Gr B steel pipe welding design and reliability, ASTM A106 Gr B steel pipe sulfide stress corrosion cracking using 5.0wt.% NaCl, 0.5wt.% CH3COOH solution, at room temperature and static stress level is 0.8σ The welding process was evaluated under the conditions. From these results, the following conclusions can be drawn.
1) For ASTM A 106 Gr B steel pipe welds, taking into account the reliability and environmental design of the SSCC
2) The heat affected zone of TH is ineffective. It is recommended to use the GTAW FCAW welding process. The E weld is due to the complex reaction of welding residual stress and SSCC mechanism.
