Indian Minister Chaudhary Birender Sing said: "In view of the huge steel imports, the Indian government of New Delhi is considering measures to curb steel imports. We have always had this concern, and we will not hesitate if we need to take measures."
A government official in New Delhi, who asked not to be named, said India is considering trade protection measures. According to the rules of the World Trade Organization, member states can adopt temporary trade restrictions to protect their industries.
At present, India is vigorously building infrastructure, and there is a strong demand for high-end railway steel and structural structural steel. Although the domestic steel supply cannot meet domestic demand, the government will still adopt measures to curb imports in the case of a surge in imports.
