A comprehensive introduction to boiler steel plate

Boiler steel plate is one of the most critical materials in boiler manufacturing. It mainly refers to the hot-rolled special carbon steel and low alloy used to manufacture important parts such as the shell, drum, header end cover, supports and hangers in the boiler heat-resistant steel medium and thick steel plate material.

The main materials of boiler steel plates are high-quality structural steel and low-alloy heat-resistant steel. Commonly used boiler steels include open-hearth smelted low-carbon killed steel or electric furnace smelted low-carbon steel. The carbon content Wc is in the range of 0.16%-0.26%. Because the boiler steel plate is working under high pressure at medium temperature (below 350°C), in addition to high pressure, it is also subject to impact, fatigue load and water and gas corrosion. The performance requirements of boiler steel plate are mainly good welding and cold bending performance, certain high temperature strength, alkali corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance, etc.

In terms of materials, boiler steel plate can be divided into two types: special carbon steel plates and low-alloy heat-resistant steel plates. Depending on the working conditions, boiler steel plate can be divided into two categories: steel plates for room temperature and medium temperature pressure-bearing parts and steel plates for high-temperature pressure-bearing parts.

Boiler steel plates are widely used in petroleum, chemical, power stations, boilers and other industries to make reactors, heat exchangers, separators, SPHErical tanks, oil and gas tanks, liquefied gas tanks, nuclear reactor pressure shells, boiler drums, and liquefied petroleum gas equipment and components such as bottles, high-pressure water pipes of hydropower stations, and turbine volutes.
