What does steel S355J2 stand for

S355J2 grade steel is a medium tensile, low carbon manganese steel which is readily weldable and possesses good impact resistance (also in sub-zero temperatures).  It is a non-alloy structural steel to EN10025-2 2004. With its increase yield strength of S355 MPa over other construction steels such as S275 and S235, S355J2 steel plate is an excellent choice for delivering critical components or major structural members. It is also the modern equivalent of the EN10025 1990 S355J2G3.
