At present, stainless steel has accounted for 50% of the materials used in automobile production, and stainless steel pipes occupy a major position, for example, the exhaust system is completely inseparable from stainless steel pipes.

"Automobile exhaust pipe" is a common name for automobile exhaust system. It collects and discharges exhaust gas. The system includes exhaust manifold, front pipe, exhaust pipe, catalytic converter, exhaust temperature sensor, car mufflers and tailpipes, etc.

The exhaust manifold and front pipe are used near the high temperature part of the engine, and the operating temperature is as high as 700~900℃. The material characteristics are required to be high temperature resistance, high temperature oxidation resistance and thermal fatigue characteristics, oxidation resistance and high temperature salt corrosion resistance. Ferritic stainless steel is the best choice. Ferritic stainless steel contains 15% to 30% chromium, and the carbon content is extremely low. It has the characteristics of large thermal conductivity, small expansion coefficient, good oxidation resistance, and excellent stress corrosion resistance.

Although ferritic stainless steel is very common, automotive exhaust systems have extremely high requirements for the quality of stainless steel. Inferior stainless steel pipes are prone to cracks under long-term high temperature and high fatigue conditions, which directly affect the life of the car.
