A516 Gr.70 steel quenching purpose
The purpose of quenching is to transform the supercooled austenite into martensite or bainite to obtain a martensite or bainite structure, and then use tempering at different temperatures to greatly increase the strength, hardness, and wear resistance of the A516 Gr.70 steel. Performance, fatigue strength and toughness, etc., so as to meet the different use requirements of various mechanical parts and tools. It can also be quenched to meet the ferromagnetic, corrosion resistance and other special physical and chemical properties of certain special steels.
A516 Gr.70 steel workpiece quenching and temperingThe fundamental reason that quenching can strengthen steel is phase transformation, that is, austenite structure becomes martensite structure (or bainite structure) through phase transformation. Quenching and tempering: It is generally used to combine the heat treatment of quenching and high temperature tempering as quenching and tempering. Quenching and tempering treatment is widely used in various important structural parts, especially those connecting rods, bolts, gears and shafts that work under alternating loads. After quenching and tempering, the tempered sorbite structure is obtained, and its mechanical properties are better than the normalized sorbite structure of the same hardness. Its hardness depends on the high temperature tempering temperature and is related to the tempering stability of the steel and the size of the workpiece section, generally between HB200-350.
