316 stainless steel is a molybdenum-bearing grade,This grade is a chromium nickel molybdenum austenitic grade which is suitable for use in severely corrosive conditions.Grade 316 also has outstanding welding characteristics. Post-weld annealing is not required when welding thin sections.316 Stainless Steel has a better resistance to pitting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in chloride solutions to that of other non molybdenum bearing stainless steel grades.
Composition ranges for 316 grade of stainless steels.

Good oxidation resistance in intermittent service to 1600°F and in continuous service to 1700°F. Continuous use of 316 in 800 – 1575°F range not recommended but often performs well in temperatures fluctuating above and below this range. Type 316L is more resistant to carbide precipitation and can be used in the above temperature range.316 is specified for use with high purity products where product contamination must be held to a minimum. Typical applications are Food Processing, Chemical Processing, Photographic, Pharmaceutical and Textile Finishing Equipment and Marine Exterior Trim.
Type 316L stainless steel is available in select gages. Please inquire with our customer service representative or send email to [email protected] , just tell us the detail information we will reply you as soon as possiable!
