The ratio of main elements in Q345B steel plate is basically the same as that in 16Mn steel plate.
The difference is that V, Ti and Nb trace alloying elements are added to Q345B steel plate.A small amount of V, Ti, Nb alloying elements can refine the grain, improve the toughness of Q345B steel plate, and improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of Q345B steel plate. Because of this, the thickness of Q345B steel plate can be larger.
Therefore, the comprehensive mechanical properties of Q345B steel plate should be better than that of 16Mn steel plate, especially its low temperature properties are not possessed by 16Mn steel plate. The allowable stress of Q345B steel plate is slightly higher than that of 16Mn steel plate.
