A709-50F-2  and A709-50T-2 Steel Description
A709-50F-2 steel and A709-50T-2 grade steel both are American standard(ASTM A709) structural steel for bridges, which are used to make road bridges and railway bridges (including sea-crossing bridges) with riveted and bolted structures.
A709-50F-2 and A709-50T-2 thickness range: 8-100mm
ASTM A709 / A709M standard: structural steel for bridges. This standard is similar to China's "GB / T 714 structural steel for bridges". Of course, due to different standard systems, specific parameters such as component properties are slightly different.

Grade A709-50F-2 Vs A709-50T-2 Steel

50 is the grade in the ASTM A709 / A709M standard, that is, the structural steel for bridges with a yield strength ≥ 345MPa, which is equivalent to Q345q in China's GB / T714 standard.
F: critical fracture tensile member-a product for tensile members in critical fracture structures;
T: Non-critical fracture tensile member-a product for tensile members in non-critical fracture structures;
A709 Grade 50 steel materials without T or F suffixes do not need to be impact tested, but can only be used for non-tension members or secondary members.
-2: Charpy V-notch impact test area code, also called grade.

F-2: It means that when the steel plate is used for critical fracture tensile members, the standard stipulates that the impact work must be ≥34J when the impact test is performed below 4 ℃;
T-2: It means that when the steel plate is used for non-critical fracture tensile members, the standard stipulates that when the impact test is performed below 4 ℃, the impact work must be ≥20J;
