316 / 316L stainless steel plates are part of the austenitic family of stainless steel and is the most widely used varieties of stainless plate,316 stainless steel alloys are used in applications that require resistance to salt water, acid and other highly corrosive materials.Alloy 316/316L is ideally suited for applications requiring corrosion resistance superior to Type 304 and has good elevated temperature strength.
Alloy 316/316L performs well in fresh water service even with high levels of chlorides. The alloy has excellent resistance to corrosion in marine environments under atmoSPHEric conditions.The higher molybdenum content of Alloy 316/316L assures it will have superior pitting resistance to Alloy 304/304L in applications involving chloride solutions, particularly in an oxidizing environment.
APPLICATIONS of 316/316L STAINLESS STEEL:316 / 316L stainless steel sheet is used by the chemical, petrochemical, marine and power transmission industries to manufacture stamped and machined parts and components.It also used in acetic acid compounds, brandy vats, corn products refining equipment, fasteners, kettles for cooking ketchup, pharmaceutical processing equipment
